Woodworking calculators for the weekend workshop
Common questions
- How do I type a fraction?
-
Type it the way you would say it.
1-3/4 is one and three quarters. The
keypad has a – key for the whole-number part and a / key for
the fraction, plus one-tap shortcuts for the common sixteenths and eighths. Whole
numbers and bare fractions both work on their own: 4 and 3/4
are fine.
- I bought the unlock but the paid tools are still locked.
-
Open any padlocked tool and tap Restore purchase. That re-checks with
the App Store or Google Play using the account you bought it with — a different account
on the same device will not find it. The unlock is a one-time purchase, so restoring
never charges you again.
- Does it work without a signal?
-
Yes. Every calculation runs on the device, and the app is built to work in a shed with
no reception. The only thing that needs a connection is the initial purchase, and your
unlock keeps working offline afterwards.
- Why does a result sometimes show a
~?
-
Because that value cannot be marked exactly on a tape. The app rounds to the nearest
1/64" for display and tells you when it has had to, rather than showing a number that
looks exact and is not.
- Can I work in millimetres?
-
Yes — the Inches / Millimeters toggle at the top of the home screen switches the whole
app, and it remembers your choice. Fraction entry stays available in either mode.
- A 2x4 is not 2 by 4. Does the app know that?
-
It does. The board feet screen has one-tap buttons for common nominal sizes, and they
fill in the actual dimensions — a 1x6 becomes 3/4" × 5-1/2".
- Where does my data go?
-
Nowhere. Saved cut lists, your board inventory and your preferences live on your device
and are never sent anywhere. There are no accounts, no analytics and no ads. See the
privacy policy.
- How do I delete everything?
-
Uninstall the app. All of it lives in the app's own storage, so removing the app removes
the data with it.
Refunds
Purchases are handled by the store, not by us, so refunds go through them:
reportaproblem.apple.com for the App
Store, or Google Play's order history for Android. If something is wrong with the app,
email first — it may be quicker to fix than to refund.
